The care of coated surfaces
Preserve the gloss of metal surfaces for years
Profiles, door handles, hinges and fittings are generally made of coated surfaces such as chrome-plated brass or anodized aluminum. In order to enjoy the beauty of these surfaces for many years, some points have to be taken into consideration while cleaning:
Chrome plated surfacesFor regular care, it is sufficient to clean them with water, soapsuds or a hand rinse and a soft cloth. For the removal of limescale deposits, a commercially available sanitary cleaner based on citric acid is recommended.
Use only special cleanersYou can identify suitable cleaners on the respective manufacturer's instructions on the back label, which show the means for use on appropriate surfaces. Read the instructions for the respective application area and the correct dosage carefully.
After cleaning, the surfaces must always be rinsed thoroughly with clean water and dried with a soft and dry cloth.
Avoid certain active ingredientsSome bath cleaners contain active ingredients which can lead to irreversible damage to the treated surfaces. These active ingredients include:
- Acetic acid (also referred to as ethanic acid or acidic acetic acid)
- Hydrochloric acid (Hydrogen chloride acid, Acidum hydrochloricum)
- Formic acid (methanoic acid, formylic acid, formalinic acid, Hydrocarbon acid)
- Chlorine bleaching liquor (sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide bleaching solution)
- phosphoric acid (E 338).
In any case, avoid cleaning agents containing these substances. These may attack the surface and can quickly lead to visible impair-ments.
Mixing different detergents should also be avoided, as the various active ingredients react with each other and can develop harmful vapors.
For cleaning, use lint-free cloths. Sponges with a scratchy surface and rough cloths are unsuitable for cleaning the sensitive surfaces.
